PCTS' Patient and Asset Tracking Implemented in Perioperative Department at Providence Portland Medical Center

The software was implemented with an ultrasound real time locating system from PCTS partner Sonitor Technologies.

The automatic tracking system utilizes an ultrasound indoor positioning system within the perioperative department to capture the real time location of personnel and equipment. Wireless badges for patients and mobile medical devices use an ultrasound signal to communicate room and sub-room level location information to sensors throughout the perioperative department.

The web-based Amelior ORTracker software uses an advanced perioperative rules engine to identify patient care milestones based on the location, movement and interactions between patients, caregivers and medical devices. Caregivers are able to visualize patient flow using status view screens specific to each unit within the perioperative department without having to manually enter data or rely on telephones and overhead pages to manage their workflow.
